Ribbon Cookie Plates

I found this adorable craft that you can make on the paper plates that you would give to friends, family and neighbors with Christmas cookies on them.

All you do is use a hole puncher to make holes all around the rim of the plate, weave a pretty festive ribbon through and finish with a bow or bells, or what ever decoration you find.

This is something I'll try to do, if I ever find the time to actually bake Christmas cookies this year. I tried getting some baking done this past weekend for a bake sale. Let me tell you, with 4 children 5 and under it is tough enough to find time to brush my hair to change out of pjs before 11:00am!

Advent Traditions

In my search for finding some Advent traditions that I can start with my family, I found this idea of a Jesus stocking at Karen Edmisten's blog. She has posted many other wonderful ideas that you should read for yourself.

Since my children are so young, I will ask them (probably over dinner) what they were thankful that day and write it down for them. I can't wait to re-read then on Christmas!

I'll try to remember to post a picture of the stocking that I make shortly.

Am I Back?

Well, I have certainly taken quite the break from blogging lately. My son, Stephen, was born on October 6th. I didn't quite feel like blogging the weeks before he was born, I just didn't have the energy afterwards.

Then after he was born we were trying to get back to normal, or I guess what our new normal will be. He is such a lovely baby and so calm. I don't know how he sleeps through all the noise of his siblings (who are all 5 years are under; 5 years old, 3 years old and 2 years old) - Whoo! What a time of adjustment it has been.

I must say though, I found it more difficult to transition to 3 children than 4. Sleep deprivation has defiantly kicked in, although he is the best sleeper of all 4. We have been thrown into routine with school and sports and we are adjusting quite well.

His siblings LOVE him beyond belief. I'm so surprised with the 2 year old, all he wants is to kiss the baby and rub his hair. There was been no moments of jealousy.

I thank God for my family. It is only with his help and guidance that this transition has been so wonderful! I also want to thank our family and friends who have helped out with meals and coming by to entertain the kids.

Take care all. I hope to be posting regulary again soon.

My 3 Small Successes for Thursday, September 10, 2009

My 3 small successes for this week:

1. My son started preschool and my daughter started Kindergarten and I didn't even cry.

2. I bought the baby his new car seat, finally.

3. And the best success this week - I got my 23 month old boy to switch into a toddler bed - with NO problems. I just can't believe how easy it was, it's almost scary, but that is so him. Nothing fazes him, such a great personality.

Take care, I'm interested to hear about other people's small successes.

Twenty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time

Sunday, August 30, 2009

Here is a great resource for Sunday activities that relate to the day's readings. I have found it very useful for my children even though they are quite young.

This week we are celebrating the Feast Day of Saint Gregory the Great. You can read what I have previously written about him here.

My 3 small successes for this week:

1. I rested yesterday instead of cleaning.

2. We visited the great-grandparents, cousin JJ, and Grammy all in one weekend.

3. I have booked my mother to take care of our children one night so my husband and I can have a dinner & movie date.

Take care, I'm interested to hear about other people's small successes.
